How do you learn to cook.

I am going to teach myself how to cook. Yes, i am very nervous and anxious, but lets step back a little. I was never really taught how to cook, i know how to bake for the most part, the basics. But i want to be able to make some decent meals for my family. Thank goodness i was lucky to marry a man that can cook! I have a few dishes i can make, but it's quit pathetic what i don't know how to do. So i am kind of doing a little, Julie & Julia to learn.

I wont make to many strange meals, since learning to cook it going to be basically for Eric, Brooklyn and myself. First off i need to find some good recipes and schedule them into our weeks. Eric also agreed to help/teach me to make a more special meal with me on the weekends. So my plan this week is to gather recipes and recipe sites that are good for everyday cooking. Wish me luck, I think am ready!

My favorite cookbook is called Dinner is Ready: 30 meals in one day by Deanna Buxton, I recommend it to everyone. The recipes are EASY and they all taste great! I also love that all of them are meant to be kept in the freezer, so you can make a bunch in advance or just make what you want. She also doesn't use any ingredients that are expensive or hard to find. Also, I plan my meals a month ahead so I have plenty of time to use coupons to get all the ingredients. Let me know if you wanna come over and borrow it, my copy is pretty worn out, but if you want to try it out you can.
