Babies delivered to parents in hand-made Christmas stockings
SALT LAKE CITY -- Some new parents got a special delivery wrapped in a stocking today - their newborn children.
For the past 33 years, employees and volunteers at St. Mark's hospital have created giant stockings to give to the parents of newborns. Each is personalized for the baby and given to the parents to take home. The hospital says many of the parents use the stocking for their kids every year.
"I think it's special for the parents. It's something neat for us to go home with. It will definitely be a memorable Christmas for us," said new father Matt Gibbs.
The St. Mark's Hospital has hand-sewn about 250 stockings for parents to take their babies home in.
The hospital says many of the parents use the stocking for their kids' yearly stocking. Gibbs said that he intends to do just that.
"It's just something to hang on to. A fun story to tell their family," said St. Marks communication director Jenifer Bridges.
